Here, a little goes a big way. Men do not naturally receive affirmations from many partnerships the way women do. I frequently overhear women remark, “I’m not going to compliment him.” Yet since women often have more interpersonally rich connections and frequently receive accolades from their peers, that does a disservice to the relationship. Guys don’t. Men don’t praise one another the same way that women do (or when men do, it’s not with the same emotional passion; it’s more of a “attaboy”). But, despite the praise he may receive from others, even a successful or self-assured guy may be starved for love and approval from his wife. Regrettably, there are occasions when a lady will declare that she will no longer flatter her husband or feed into his ego. That’ll make him crazy. If this occurs frequently, I’ll explain that it doesn’t seem well for the partnership if she refuses to offer some affirmations. Both parties need to be being kind to one another, which includes giving each other lots of compliments. From a personal standpoint, my wife and my two girls are now on spring break. It’s a moms’ group outing for the ladies. I’m aware that I need to make sure our home is tidy for her arrival, especially the kitchen and the beds. I’ll perform that modest but good deed for her, and it will go a long way. Another idea would be to exchange love letters and carry out the other little gestures you used to perform when dating. You are aware of what I’m referring to.
